Summer in the city… It means that we all have the irresistible temptation to wear the first strap (or strapless) dress we see in our closet. But don’t give in just yet! I put together 5 elegant summer looks that will give you enough inspiration and will easily – and effortlessly – transition from day to night (at least in NYC)!
The first thing you need to know about life in New York is that WEATHER IS FREACKING CRAZY IN THIS CITY. You go out at 8 am and it’s sunny and fresh. You go for lunch at 12 and it’s like you’re in HELL. At 3 pm, there is a thunderstorm and it gets fresh and windy. At 5 pm, it’s sunny and really really warm again. At 8 pm, the sun sets and you feel kinda… cold…
Ok, now that you have a good picture of what I’m talking about here, let’s get to the looks!
If you want to dress up in New York during the summer, the key thing is to have stylish sneakers. I got those from Superga last month and I always get compliments for it. It’s not very comfortable, but… who cares?… (right?)
In this first look, I paired my sneakers with this super cute off the shoulder midi length dress from Saylor. The dress – especially when paired with this Dior nude bag – has a romantic and cute vibe to it, but the sneakers give just enough balance to the look!
Dress: Saylor NYC | Sneakers: Superga | Bag: Dior | Sunnies: Zero UV
For this second look, I decided to put together two pieces that one would think are just boring, but, with a designer twist, became WOW. I’m talking simply about a denim skirt and a shirt. But just you wait…
Shirt: Tibi | Skirt: Veda | Bag: Céline | Sunglasses: Saturday Morning | Shoes: Asos
The third look also uses a common piece with a designer twist! I’m talking about this balloon sleeve blouse that gives a style touch to any look! I paired it with my Nina shoes black mule, but I also wore this look before with the white mule from Asos and it’s C.U.T.E!
Top: Alexis | Jeans: H&M | Charm: Fortune and Frame | Shoes: Nina Shoes
This next one is one of my favorite looks. I just love how this long dress fits. But a word of warning for those who want to buy this same one from Privacy Please: it’s kinda transparent and the cleavage is waaaaay too deep – so keep that in mind.
Dress: Privacy Please | Bag: Bought in Bali | Sunnies: Zero UV
I (also) love this last look and transitioned super well from day to night. During the day, I wore this super sophisticated Marni shirt with denim shorts and heels. At night, I changed to leather shorts and to a metallic mule and voilà!
Shirt: Marni | Bag: Chanel
Hope you all liked these inspirations and will create your own super cute and elegant summer looks!
