After I watched Tom Ford’s SS/18 show, I could only scream one thing: HELLO, SHOULDERS!
The designer balanced between structured shoulder oversized jackets with drop shoulder ones, even more oversized and making an ever bigger statement.
Just a mental note… When I saw Tom Ford’s women this season, I couldn’t help it but think about Saint Laurent’s. Of course, I respect a lot the years that TF spent at Gucci, and he was one of the fathers of the ‘porno chic’ and all the provocative fashion campaigns that we see so much in Saint Laurent’s ads. But for me, TF and SL are coming too close in this aspect, with the Tom Ford ads reminding me of Saint Laurent’s campaigns earlier this year. I might suffer some backlash there, but what’s the point of having a blog and not being able to express one’s opinion… right?
Anyways! I’m a big time fan of structured shoulders. Since I was a child, I would love to try on my mom’s blazers with a shoulder cushion. That might be why I love this back to the 90s vibe that is so present in the fashion collections those past few seasons.
And by the way, Elton jackets (that we loved to pair with dresses) are totally making a comeback!
I love the elegant and sophisticated woman that Tom Ford elaborated this season, and was impressed to see the color palettes coming so close together, having, once again, a base on B&W and going warmer with reds, oranges, and pinks.
