As the Insta-maniac that I am, I couldn’t just travel to Hong Kong and not do an Instagram guide of the city with the best photo ops around! So, welcome to my guide to the most Instagram-worthy places in Hong Kong!
The Most Instagram-worthy Places in NYC
Instagram-worthy Places in Tokyo
Before you go, a word of advice: the climate is extremely humid there, so always remember to bring your hairspray if you want your curls (or your blow dry) to stay in place. Also, it’s very hot during the day and it gets pretty chilly when the night falls, so bring a sweater with you if you’ll stay out all night!
For those of you out there with oily skin: I opted for a spray sunscreen from Goop! It’s also a great setting spray!
With those tips in mind, let’s get to it!
1 – Harbor view from Kowloon
I was debating whether Victoria Peak should be number one on my list – even if it should be on my list at all. I decided to keep it out, because, honestly, I found it too touristy and I appreciate more authentic experiences.
If you are like me and enjoy skipping the overly touristy attractions, but want to get a nice photo with the Hong Kong Island on the background, you can either get a ferry to Kowloon and appreciate the view from the boat or simply hop on the subway and get off at Tsim Sha Tsui, a cool area with high end malls and a pretty view.
2 – Sevva
This was one of my most memorable experiences in Hong Kong! This super cool rooftop bar is located right by the HSBC building and has the perfect view of both this building and the Bank of China tower.
Sweater: Red Valentino | Bag: Gucci
3 – Tai Sin Temple
We had the option of either going to Man Mo or Tai Sin temple. Man Mo is located in Central, and is a bit more touristy. On the other hand, Tai Sin Temple was one of the biggest ones in HK and pretty much frequented by locals. My Chinese friend that was with me during the trip suggested we went to Tai Sin, because it would be a more interesting experience. It really was, and we even got to see a fortune teller! To get ready for the fortune teller, you just need to grab one of the wooden cups with some skewers in it, shake them well while on your knees and write down the number that’s written on the first one to fall on the floor (it might take some practice).

4 – Kowloon by night
What you see the most in Hong Kong are streets that are crazy lit up at night! The ones in Kowloon were my favorites! Don’t forget to also go to the night markets around the area. It’s definitely worth a ‘trip’ outside the island.
Sweater: Ba&sh | Skirt: Maje | Boots: Zara
5 – Tian Tan Buddha
This one is located a bit outside of town. But worry not, because the subway quickly takes you to the cable car station! I recommend that you go first thing in the morning because lines can get big on the way to and from the Buddha. It’s definitely an amazing experience. The cable car ride is unbelievable and the ‘town’ itself not only has the Buddha (which is AMAZING) but also a beautiful temple and some very typical constructions (and… cattle walking around)
6 – Chi Lin Nunnery
This peaceful place is the best one to go after a morning visit to the Tai Sin Temple (we left the hotel at around 8a.m. to get the least busy hours). The main building and the lotus garden are really impressive, but don’t forget to go inside the halls (where you cannot take pictures) for an out of this world zen experience. After exiting the halls, leave for the garden on the left that has the red bridge: that’s definitely a photo op!
7 – Sneakers Street
This is the street where you can join the utility of having simply one of the biggest sneakers assortment in the world with the joy of having the world-famous Hong Kong instagrammable streets!
Dress: Port Zienna
8 – Woolloomooloo Rooftop
On my first night, I was taken to this unbelievable rooftop that was on the, err.. rooftop of the building where the company we were visiting was. It.was.my.first.night. I couldn’t believe how amazing the city looked from up there. Definitely go. Have a drink. Take pictures! Go right before the sunset to see the best of both worlds (day and night!).
Jeans: H&M | Slippers: The Kooples | Blazer: Derek Lam | Tee: Laura Laval
9 – Causeway bay Graffiti
If you are into street art and graffiti, don’t forget to check out (and click) the walls of Causeway Bay.
10 – The Iron Fairies
I confess I didn’t go to this one, but all my friends that were with me went and loved it – and I loved the pictures!!! So I’ll recommend it to you! This bar simply has zillions of REAL butterflies hanging from the ceiling, creating an incredible drama and… photo op!
Well, guys, I hope you enjoyed my ‘out of the books’ Instagram guide to Hong Kong!
