It’s been an amazing week in both Santiago, Chile and Rio de Janeiro, but I’m finally back home and trying to remember all my amazing experiences to tell you all about it! I want to start with Santiago, especially because it was a big surprise for me. I went there to visit two friends and didn’t have high expectations in terms of tourism.
However, I have to say, Santiago really surprised me! It’s a well developed city, with so many options to eat out, and plenty of places to go and, VERY IMPORTANTLY, to take pictures. So here we go…

1 – Sky CostaneraThis is one of the MUST GOs of Santiago. The city is beautiful and, in my opinion, you can only have an idea of its unique geography when you see it from a high viewpoint. I love Sky Costanera because it’s also beautiful inside and very centrally located, but, if you prefer, you can also go to Cerro San Cristobal.
2 – Cerro Santa Lucia
Another one of the incontournables of Santiago is this place. Very close to the downtown area of the city (or Old Town), so you can go up a short set of stairs to get there after you walk around this part of the city.
3 – Vitacura Neighborhood
Of all the neighborhoods in Santiago, Vitacura was definitely my favorite. Very residential (actually, that’s where I stayed and would recommend everyone to stay as well), safe, and where all the cool (and $$$) restaurants are. It’s the perfect place to rest after a walk around downtown or at the financial district – it was also conveniently close to this last one!
4 – Viña Santa Rita
If you will be in Chile for a while, this may not be the best wine region you’ll go (I have heard the it’s in Colchagua). However, we asked our friends to take us on a day trip to a winery and, I have to say, I LOVED the tour we took on Viña Santa Rita. Also, the place is surrounded by history and the main building ‘HAPPENS TO BE’ very instagrammable!
5 – Plaza Moneda
If you love white and clear backgrounds in your pictures, this is the best place in Santiago for your Instagram pictures!
6 – Plaza de la Constituicion
Much more calm and safe than the Plaza de Armas (which is very touristy and crowded), the Plaza de la Constituicion is full of military guards and is the perfect Instagram backdrop for your pictures.
7 – Barrio Paris-Londres
It’s actually an intersection between two streets called Paris and Londres. The streets really remind the cities that name them and every corner is an Insta opportunity.
8 – Parque Bicentenario
Right next to the Vitacura neighborhood, this is one of the biggest (actually, longest) parks in Santiago. It’s worth going for a pleasant walk and stopping by a viewpoint that looks to Santiago’s financial district and the Costanera center.
I hope you guys liked my list and let me know if you are planning to go to Santiago!
