I’m one of the people that could easily argue that eyebrows make THE WHOLE DIFFERENCE in the way we look. Having a flawed and asymmetric pair of eyebrows since I was a child, filling and plucking them was always part of my routine.
With so many different kinds of products on the market currently, it’s normal to wonder what kind of eyebrow makeup is the right one for you. The truth is that there’s no right or wrong – the difference lies in the amount of time you have to work on your brows and the kind of finishing you want for your makeup.
To make your life easier, I decided to provide you all with this easy product guide, depending on the amount of time you have to dedicate to your brows!
If you’re in a hurry…
If I’m in a hurry, I don’t really risk filling my brows with a pencil. But, at the same time, I want them to look good, and its flaws to be disguised. The perfect products for you, if you find yourself in this situation, are the colored brow gels (or clear ones, if you prefer them). They will keep your brow hairs in place and tint them, giving the impression that you have more volume.
If you have 3-5 minutes for your brows…
This option is the one I recommend if you have a little more time, but also can’t really have the luxury of making mistakes and taking a while to fix them. For you, the best options are the eyeshadow-like products to fill the brows. They will give you more volume and density. The results, however, are not the most natural ones you can achieve – but still pretty good. My recommendation is to use those with a thin flat brush for maximum precision.
If you have 5-7 minutes…
If you have a little more time – and this is what I usually go for – I highly recommend using a brow pencil to define the edges of your brows and attempt to make a design. To fill, you can either continue to use the pencil doing thin and short strokes or use the powder products I mentioned above. Whenever I use brow pencils, I usually choose the thinnest pencils or the ones with a triangle shape (that combine designing and filling in the same product). I also always brush my brows up in between strokes to achieve a more natural look.
If you have 7-10 minutes…
My favorite option for when I have time is to go for an ultra-natural bushy eyebrow look. For me, it’s also the option that takes the longest: because the products are usually more liquid, it’s easier to make mistakes here (and it takes longer to correct them). I also like to combine bushy brow strokes with a pencil filling on the top part of the eyebrows to add some definition. Up to you!
