This post was super requested by you guys on Instagram, and I’m so happy I’m having the discipline to write it right when summer began. Before every season begins, I always put together a shortlist of the key seasonal pieces to add to my wardrobe. So, now, I’m sharing my key pieces for this summer in NYC with you guys!
1 – A good pair of white denim or tailored pants
For me, Summer is always a great excuse to wear white. I know, I know, winter whites are also amazing, but Summer just ASKS for it, especially denim white pants. I have both on my wardrobe, but jeans are always more versatile and allow you more shoe combinations than tailored options.
2 – A cool white shirt
I’m a big fan of simplicity with elegance in looks. And that’s why a nice white button shirt is always a must-have in my Summer wardrobe. Not only they make super chic summer looks, but also they are great lifesavers if you don’t wanna show too much skin, but also don’t feel like wearing a blazer over that cami top.
3 – A chic cami top
I don’t know how about you, but for me is always a challenge to look elegant during Summer. Sometimes we show too much skin because it’s too hot, or just wanna wear a flip-flop. For those hot days, I always bet on a chic silky cami top to be ready to go.
4 – Elegant denim shorts or Bermuda shorts
I’m obsessed with denim shorts. But I just find it so hard to wear ripped denim shorts in the city (especially with my body type). So I always prefer to shop for more elegant cuts that are neither super short or ripped.9
5 – Little White Dress
As I said before, white is my go-t0 Summer color. Every Summer, I just need to have that key white dress that just fits every occasion and gets me dressed up without thinking too much.
6 – A midi pencil skirt
This is definitely the piece I’m wearing the most this Summer (even before the season began, LOL!). The closer I get to my 30s, the more uncomfortable I get with wearing mini skirts. So, midi pencil skirts just became my go-tos!
7 – Neutral knit tops that go with EVERYTHING
There is a wide variety of knit tops that you NEED to have on your wardrobe to mix and match. I always prefer to stick to the neutrals to achieve an optimal number of combinations for my capsule closet.
8 – A nice printed dress
Year after year, Summer season is always all about floral prints. Although prints are not my favorite thing, because it’s harder to wear those printed pieces repetitively, I’d have at least one for special occasions 🙂
