It’s finally time to update your wardrobe and get some inspiration for your NYC Fall Outfits this season. Whether you’re visiting or just live here, you’ll definitely find great outfit inspo here. I gathered some great ideas for you to be the best dressed in the City! These are my top fail-proof looks for the best NYC Winter Outfits.
OK, this year went by way too fast, and I can’t believe it, but Winter is right around the corner! It’s honestly a bit hard to write this post in mid-October, because, for some reason, the temperatures are taking forever to drop (that’s a good thing, right?) and I can’t even envision being covered in layers in the snow.
But since we want to be on top of things here, I put together a list of my favorite NYC Winter Outfits that you’ll need to try this season!
I love these, especially because I’m someone who likes to shop my own closet before shopping out every season, and most of the pieces and looks I’ll show you are really timeless.

My Staple Fall/Winter Boots and How I Style Them
A chic statement Winter coat will be your savior when you don’t know what to wear
Yes, Winter is officially layering season, and we need a good elegant outside layer that can make you look put together even though the layers underneath are a mess.
I personally love statement Winter coats. Yes, they’re often memorable, and people will notice if you wear them again, but do we really care about that in 2024?
Is there such a thing as a chic Winter boot?
I honestly don’t know about the chic part, but I love the fact that UGG boots finally became cool again. I love to wear them with my wide-leg jeans, tailored pants, etc. (just not leggings please!).
Apart from the obviously comfortable – and now cool – pieces, there are definitely some chic Winter boots we can rock this season.
Layers, layers, layers
Especially in a city like New York, where the temperatures can be soooo low during the Winter, layering is key for a warm, cozy and, why not, elegant look.
Also, we have to factor in that, for those who live here and go to the office, some of these heaters can get pretty warm, so it’s great to layer up so we can peel them off when we need to.
I love cardigans for that very reason: they’re such an easy piece to add to a look, and they can be so cozy and cute!
Thermal undergarments are a must-have… ?
I always see lots of blog posts talking about the importance of wearing thermal garments in NYC’s extreme Winter. I’ll agree in part with this. I think thermal undergarments are really helpful if you’re visiting and walking around the city (outside) all day long.
When you live here and don’t spend that much time outside, I really don’t think it’s necessary, as some of them will REALLY hit you when you go somewhere indoors.

Cool Hats/tiaras vs. beanies
I’m an avid hater of beanies. There, I said it (even though I admit I’ve been through a beanie phase when I moved to NY 10 years ago).
I prefer a thousand times to just wear a cool shearling hat or a tiara to protect my ears from the cold instead.
We’re doing colors in 2023
I’m a neutrals girl at my core, but this season, I’m dabbing my feet into colors (but just a little bit). A few colors to experiment with this Winter are Red, Cherry red, and a brushed-out Sage Green.
What do you think?
